Radioaisle is the solo project of Cologne based multi-instrumentalist Ilias Ntais. Radioaisle takes 4track home-recording onto the stage. Cinematic song-structures are created with a set of loopers and alternatively tuned guitars. Haiku like poetry is sung over sparse beats mixed with mellotron, melodica and kalimba sounds.
Radioaisle started as a radioshow on Crete and gradually transformed to a live act. Originally born in Austria, Ntais moved to Greece where he came in contact with traditional music. Even though Radioaisle falls into place with bands like Idaho, Low or Dirty Three the rhythms and textures of Greek music find their way into the songwriting.
Since 2005 Radioaisle toured in Greece, Spain, Belgium and Germany before releasing Postscript in 2010. A split single with Lucretia Dalt followed that year on Pruna Records. Due to his engagement in film-work Ntais relocated to Cologne in 2012. After releasing Reverse angle in 2014 Radioaisle has focused on exploring the studio as a creative canvas. New instruments and overdubbing further pushed the music into new ground.
In May 2016, Radioaisleās 4th record Aftershock was released. The songs explore the way our brain and soul processes loss, violence, abuse or anything that shocks the little child in us. A sequel to Refuge (2015) that addressed the emotions and thoughts resulting from the refugee situation in Europe.
2016 marks a ten year anniversary of touring and recording music as Radioaisle. A cassette and a 7inch are going to be released later this year ending a creative circle of evolution and discovery. In true radio fashion, Radioaisle thanks you for listening.
